Crysis

Here's a game that we might want to seriously consider. For now I'm going to just post this link to a list of trailers and videos related to Crysis. Check it out. VERY Impressive looking...and also very interesting game play. Anyway, decide for yourselves but this is my next game purchase most likely (if not, TF2):

Yah it is an EA published game but the actual developer is Crytek. They did Far Cry which was pretty good.

Its not a DICE game...

I did read a write up on it about the CryEngine (or something like that) that is supposed to blow away Battlefield's multi gamer engine in Maximum PC a ways back. My guess is I will need a newer computer to play it though, even if I have a 3.2 ghz P4 HT....

Mainly you'll need a DX10 Class Video Adapter to get the most out of the game. The CryEngine2 demo I saw showed stuff like Time of Day Lighting, Dynamic Soft Shadows, Lightbeams....all very pretty looking if you have the right hardware. The way the characters move is far better than the BF2 Engine also.

Important part is, its an entirely different engine than DICE's BF2 engine... Smile

whats the release date? Will it have stats. Is this the one thats like a MMO but all first person?

Release Date: November 16th, Demo in the next week I think...

Looks like they have a "Prestige" system that awards you upgrades to your weapons and armor and such. You gain Prestige by completing objects that you can select.

There are also factories you capture and activate with Alien energy to produce vehicles, aircraft and weapons. Those factoies can be enhanced somehow to allow production of more intense weapons

There is a hint of RTS in the way the factories are handled. At least that's what I thought Wink

11/16 release date. Supposedly the single player demo is out on EA Link, though haven't checked yet.
Stats, I have no clue about, though I only play games where my stats are kept (hello, I am a stat whore).
Have to say the concept of shooting out a car's tire is pretty cool.

as far as MP goes we should all try TF2, it is waaay different then BF2. Lots more going on, in such a smaller area, but I am beganing to like it.

If you are at all getting bored with BF2, try TF2 with me Image and a few others.

Been playing the demo fo the last hour or so and all I can say is: WOW!! Even on my lower end machine it plays pretty nice. Haven't shot out any tires yet but give me time Wink

The demo is pretty nice. I am not sure if I am sold on it though. So many freaking buttons to push to do stuff, which I suppose is good and bad.
Never really been a fan of 1 player FPS stuff, not really interested in the story line, mainly just interesting in shooting stuff in multiplayer.
I get this bad "Battlefield Vietnam" vibe. Who really cares if the bushes and trees move realistically? I mean, really.
Yup, it is by the makers of FarCry... could tell that by the animation style right off the bat.
And yeah, it does push the video card. I had to turn off the anti-aliasing to get the voice/mouth to match, and to smooth out some lag.
